There is a mouse pointer, and there is an insertion point. The former is
indicated [usually] by an arrow or other pointer. The latter is indicated by a vertical bar. One thing you might try is Tools - Options - Edit tab, "Use smart cursoring". If it's off--turn it on. If it's on--turn it off. Then see if the change improves matters for you. I have it turned on, and find that Word is a bit more intuitive, from my point of view. Another setting to look at is "Enable click and type" (also in the Options - Edit tab). I don't particularly like this setting, since it can result in the insertion of paragraph marks and tabs to effect the placement of the insertion point wherever you click, but some folks like it. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP http://www.herbtyson.com Please respond in the newsgroups so everyone can follow along.
