Hello,
using Word 2003 SP1 - the Auto Number feature does not work.
In previous versions of Word, if you type "1. sometext" and then press
ENTER, Word will start Autonumbering for you.
Word 2003 does not.
In Tools/AutoCorrect Options, under AutoFormat As You Type, I have tried
selecting/unselecting "Automatic Numbered Lists", to no avail.

Any ideas?

You are right. It doesn't work, at least not without some work. See: How to
