Default I'm so confused

I can't do anything what so ever with my microsoft word processor.
Everything is grey and can't be clicked. Will someone please explain to me
why this might be happening?

Hi M.K.,

If the status bar at the bottom of Word 2007 is showing a message about being locked for modification it's possible that you have a
60-day trial copy of Microsoft Office that has reached the end of the trial period or was not activated.

Check in Office Button=Word Options=Resources=Activation

If it's not a trial, see if it works if you start Word in safe mode (holding ctrl key when starting Word).

You buy one from Microsoft - ideally by buying the product from a third
party reseller as then you might save some money and you will have the disc
to reinstall the product should it become necessary at some future date.

If only -- the Vista Home Premium Upgrade is $129.99 everywhere. (I
bought it at Office Depot because both Target and Staples were sold
out -- those three stores happen to be in NJ "enterprise zones" where
the sales tax is 3.5% instead of 7%, and at these prices, that's
significant. And the Office Depot register generated a $10 coupon good
on any purchase during September!)

OTOH, at Sam's Club they have some on the shelf at the old price of
$158.99 (which looks like it might have been discounted from an
earlier list price; but they seem not to have gotten the message.)

We're talking about MS's pricing practices.
