Default confused footers!

Using Word 2002 in Windows XP.

I am dealing with a long (500 page) document containing multiple section
breaks. In a couple of places I have the following strange problem with odd
page footers:

A new section's footer is correct when viewed in "Print Layout". But Word's
"Print Preview" shows that page with the previous (wrong) odd page footer
and the correct footer is only correct in subsequent pages.

How does one correct this since it is correct in both the "Print Layout" and
the "Header/Footer" view which therefore have nothing to correct!

Does it print incorrectly? I ask because this sounds more like a printer
driver bug.

It's even more complicated than that!

The page in question shows up as page 136 in the "Print Layout" view with an
even page footer.
But, it prints out as page 135 with the odd page footer from the previous
section!

When on page 136 in the "Print Layout" view I click to the Header/Footer
view, I see that it still has the previous section's header (my fault) and
corrected it.

Now page 136 of the "Print Layout" view - prints correctly as page 135 with
the correct footer but the "Print Layout" view still shows it as page 136!

Even worse, when I recreate the ToC, that chapter appears as being at page
138. It should be page 135.

Really wierd.

Default confused footers! - solved

Solved.

In disgust I saved and closed the Word document.

When I reopened it, the ToC and the "Print Layout" view are now all correct.
They all show that page as being page 135 with the correct footer.

I guess that Word does not correctly repaginate its pages on the fly and
only does so when it reopens the document. Very confusing.

See my subsequent replies. I never thought of the printer driver being at
fault. .

Actually closing and reopening the Word document fixed the problem. So I
think it has to do with Word incompletely re-paginating the document. I
have 4 G of ram in Windows XP.
