Default Versions Invisible When Document Opened on Network

If I open a document that has saved versions, I see this wierd behaviour:

- when opened on a network share, the saved versions are not displayed in
the "Existing Versions" list; but
- when the same document is opened on a local drive, the versions are
displayed in the "Existing Versions" list.

This behaviour is baffling!!

If anyone has a solution to this, PLEASE share it with me.

Thanks in advance,
Aditya Choubey

G'day Aditya ,

Networked linked files have horrendous problems because Word is so
disk intensive. The best solution is to use something like VSS to
check out the files locally whilst maintaining a networked shadowcopy
for general trivial read access.
