Default how do i set capital letters when typing numbered paragraph?

When typing numbered paragraphs the first leter of the sentence does not come
up as a capitlal letter. How do I change this?

Press the shift key! This is a limitation in the autoformat mechanism.

Graham. Thank you very much for your response. does this mean there are no
settings it has to be done manually? I know it is lazy but I have been using
windows 98 for the past 4 years at work and we have just upgraded to XP and
our boss is useless.
