Why does the number below 1 in a multi level list reset to the number
following a previous multi level list? e.g, previous multi level list ends with 8. start a new list with one, and instead of showing number 2 after one, it shows 9! Thanks in advance. |

Bob,
You're using a Style for your numbered list, yes? If not then I'd recommend that you do. That way the numbering remains consistent and behaves properly (for the most part). Fellow MVP Shauna Kelly has a lot to say on this issue on her website: http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/. If you follow her advice, I suspect that the issue will go away - at which point the question of why it happens becomes moot. -- Cheers!
