Default I have a document in one font, but it won't change to another

I have been writing a document in Word, and want to change the font. I
highlight the text, and go to format, font, and change the font, hit okay,
but nothing happens. I can get it to change the size and other factors, but
not font.

What printer do you have selected? What view are you in? If it is Normal
view, do you have "Draft font" selected on the View tab of Tools | Options?
