Windows and Office are completely separate products that are not linked version-to-version. The current retail version of Office is Office 2007, while Office 2010 is currently available as a public beta. Either or both versions of Office will run on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, etc. If you have Office 2007, then Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) is present on the distribution CD but it isn't installed by default. You have to rerun the installer and do a custom install, explicitly choosing MODI to "run from my computer". See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...x#BKMK_Removed for some added information. In Office 2010, MODI has been removed completely -- see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...ice.14%29.aspx. If that's what you're using, you'll have to get some non-Microsoft OCR software. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |
