In word xp, I am prompted to save the normal dot
Every time I open a new document it attributes to it a new number: EX
Document 1, then Document 2, even if the previous one is closed. I am now up to document 13. Is this normal? |

Yes. You will be back to Document1 if you quit Word and restart it.

Or alternatively stop switching off the PC without closing Word and Windows
