Thanks I don't recognize the book you mentioned, but if it tells you to press Enter repeatedly to make blank lines, you should ask for your money back. Every time you press the Enter key, Word creates a new paragraph. There's no law that the paragraph has to contain any text, and a lot of people use an empty paragraph to make a blank line, but it's not good in general and will sometimes cause trouble. Instead, learn about paragraph formatting, especially the Space After setting, and learn about paragraph styles. If you want extra space between your paragraphs, define your text style to have 6 points or 12 points (or some other amount) of Space After. Every time you press Enter at the end of a paragraph (that should contain text), Word will skip down by that amount of space to start the next paragraph. For more specific advice -- which you may not be ready to absorb -- see http://word.mvps.org/faqs/customizat...platePart2.htm and concentrate on the part about styles. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org |
