Default Print preview or print causes all characters to stack up on single

We are using vb.net 2003 to automate Word 2003. Our application instatiates
Word and performs a mail merge from a datasource. Our environment originaly
used Office 2000 with no issues. Since our upgrade to Office 2003 some users
complain; after performing the merge and clicking the PRINT or PRINT PREVIEW
in Word the document format changes and all characters stack up into a single
column starting at their tab stop. This is intermittent and is not limited
to a single user or printer or document. This issue does not exist when
these users perform mail merge directly from Word or when using other
applications to perform mail merge functions.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks, this sounds like the same issue. The Google link was not clear how
to actually resolve the issue though. I did follow the instructions and
purge the temp and temp internet but the issue showed up immediately after
the purge.

I am still looking for a resolution for the issue. Thank you!

Have you tried changing or even just reselecting the printer?

Yes, changing the printer prior to print does seem to correct the problem,
but this is an unrealistic solution since our users print hundreds of
documents each day.

For those of you that are still looking for an answer; here is the solution
after troubleshooting with Microsoft:
-----------------------------------------------------
RESOLUTION:
-----------------------------------------------------

Disabled Background printing under "Tools | Options | Print"
