Default return after following hyperlink

When I follow a hyperlink to a bookmark I don't have an easy way to get back
to where the hyperlink was.
I saw in another post that shift + F5 or alt +left arrow should take me
back, but while they take me somewhere it isn't always back to where I want
to be (and I can't figure out what the logic is behind where they take me,
which I'd be interested to know incidentally).
Does anyone have a suggestion about how to get back to the point my
hyperlink launched from, preferrably without inserting reversing bookmarks
and hyperlinks.
thanks.

SHIFT-F5 takes you back to the last place you edited, which may not be near
where you clicked to go to the hyperlinked place (Clicking is not editing).
ALT-Left Arrow works like the "Back" arrow in a Web browser. This one should
always take you back were you clicked on the Hyperlink.
You would get the same result as Internet Browsing if you displayed the Web
toolbar in Word and use its Back button. But that uses up screen real
estate...

Alt+Left Arrow performs the action of the Back button on the Web toolbar,
which should take you back to the link you clicked on (provided you haven't
moved around in the meantime, anyway). Shift+F5 takes you back to the
previous *edit* point, so it must be a place where you actually performed
some action to cause the location to be bookmarked.
