Default MailMerge Repeating Data

I am trying to do a mail merge using the results of an Access query.
My input looks like this (abbreviated):
1 smith title1
1 smith title2
1 smith title3
2 jones title4
I expect 2 letters, one to Smith with the 3 titles listed. The second to
Jones with one title listed. What I'm getting is 4 letters.

Is this possible?

It's really easier to do with a report in Access.

Word does not really have the ability to do a multiple items per condition
merge:

See the "Group Multiple items for a single condition" item on fellow MVP
Cindy Meister's website at

Or take a look at the following Knowledge Base Article

Hope this helps.
