When clicking the "save" icon in Word 2000, my PC takes about
one full minute to save the doc, rather than the usually almost instantaneous
save.

I note that a "save" icon appears at the lower right of the page while this
saving is going on. When I place the cursor over this icon, it says
"background save."

I am not aware of anything I have done to cause this change.

What is happening and how do I correct it?
