it depends partly on the version of Word, and whether you are using an
Internet fax facility (in which case you'll probably have to go through
Outlook) or a faxmodem.

For the latter you will probably be better off using a macro - see
http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0001.htm which may also provide useful info. even
if you have to go via Outlook. Not so sure about Word 2007 though.
