I have a word doc that has page breaks. Having difficulty understanding why
when you type on one page the information typed in on the following page
remains static however, elsewhere in the document, when you type on a page
either free standing paragraphs or within inserted tables, the information on
the next page taps down/moves as you type.

My guess is that the "static" contents follow a page or section break. If
you switch to Normal view, you'll see the break more easily (unless it is
"Page break before" paragraph formatting).
