I figured out how to start page numbering in the middle of my document but
now I do not want page numbers on the last 3 pages. How do I stop page
numbering? Help!

Insert a section break before the pages you don't want numbered. Unlink the
header/footer in the last section from the previous one and delete the page
number in the last section.

Hi Donna,

Here's another way - replace your page number field with a formula field coded as:
{IF{={NUMPAGES}-{PAGE}} 2 {PAGE}}
where the field braces (ie '{ }') are created in pairs via Ctrl-F9.

Thanks so VERY much for your help. I'm editing a book for my Aunt who has
written her life story for her children. This was the last thing I had to do
before sending it off. Job well done!

Glad I could help. I'm always eager to encourage people to write their
autobiographies for their children, grandchildren, and beyond. Both my
grandmothers wrote autobiographies as well as biographies of their husbands,
my mother wrote her autobiography (which I'm trying to put together with
photos for family publication), and we encouraged my father-in-law to write
a memoir as well. I wish I'd been able to get my father to do this before he
died, as I'm discovering a lot more about his fascinating life--luckily I've
got huge collections of his correspondence (letters both to and from him)
that I'm putting into books for the family.

Just the other day I sent my daughter a transcript (from one grandmother's
autobiography) of a family story about our ancestress Susannah Marsters
(1749-1847). My daughter replied, "That is fascinating! What a treasure
that this family history has been preserved!"
