Default footer section and page numbers

I've created an employee handbook. The first section is the table of
contents and in the footer I want is Roman numerals to indicate the number of
pages i.e. i., ii, iii. Then each section of the handbook should have the
section number and page number on it, i.e. I-1. I-2 I've tried inserting the
field code but it starts counting with the that section number which is off
because the first section it the TOC. How do I change the section numbers to
coincide with the section of the table of contents?

Default footer section and page numbers

Use the following field construction

{ = { SECTION } - 1 } - { PAGE }

You must use Ctrl+F9 for each pair of field delimiters.

Hope this helps.

Default footer section and page numbers

If you want the TOC to show the section numbers, you will need to use the
"Include chapter number" feature in the page number format, and this
requires that you use auto numbering for a built-in heading style. See
