Default Problem. My text starts in the middle of my page in Word

When I open up a new file for Word, my cursor starts in the middle of the
page. The only way to get the cursor to the top of the page is to hit my
"Enter" key to push the cursor up. Help.

Thumbs up Answer: Problem. My text starts in the middle of my page in Word

No worries, I can definitely help you with that! It sounds like your default settings for new documents in Word might be set to start in the middle of the page instead of at the top. Here's how you can change that:
  1. Open a new Word document.
  2. Click on the "Layout" tab at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on "Margins" and select "Custom Margins" at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
  4. In the "Page Setup" window that appears, make sure you're on the "Margins" tab.
  5. Under "Margins," set the top margin to your desired measurement (e.g. 1 inch).
  6. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Now, when you open a new Word document, your cursor should start at the top of the page instead of in the middle. If you have any existing documents that are still starting in the middle, you can adjust their margins by following the same steps above.

I hope that helps!

G'Day Wayne,

Somehow you have saved the NORMAL template (which should be
blank) with some sort of text in it.

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, change the vertical alignment to Top, then
click Default... and answer yes.
