Default text box ???

Office 2k(word)

Have a doc with a large text box inserted.
Would like to remove the text and place in doc without the text box.
Tried copy/paste text only but the box goes with it.

Help and thanks,

Select/highlight the TEXT in the textbox, not the whole textbox. Then
copy/paste.

You should be able to select all the text without the text box and
copy/paste. Another approach is to convert the text box to a frame (option
on the Text Box tab of Format Text Box), then remove the frame (button in
the Format Frame dialog).

Think we've found the problem.
It's not a text box but text with a border and the border was going along
with the copy/paste of text.

In that case all you have to do is select the text and choose No Border. If
the border is not part of the style, Ctrl+Q would do it.
