Default That did not help, Susan.

I did have the "Provide feedback with animation" checked, but I also had the
ruler boxes checked. I unchecked the "Provide feedback with animation" box, &
it didn't show the rulers at all, even when I put the cursor where they were
hiding. So, is there anything else that I can try?

Default That did not help, Susan.

Did you select Ruler on the View menu? That forces all rulers to be
displayed (and not auto hide) regardless of your other settings. Unless this
is Word 2007, there's only one "ruler box," for the vertical ruler, and, as
I mentioned, that is displayed only in Print Layout view.
