perhaps you need to clean your computer? While you're at it check to see
if it needs to defrag. Or maybe you need to purchase extra memory?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...artingWord.htm for some
areas to check. Is the document on a network? Or is the template on a
network?

I ntoced after donwloading the last Office updates from Windows Update a few
weeks ago that network word files opened very slowly on a Client PC. This
does not occur for documents on the Client PC's harrdrive. I have this
problem on 3 different Pcs so it is not isolated to one installation. Was
ther esomething in the last update that could have caused this? In Word - it
syas it is downloading the file which takes a minute or two. In the past, the
dowbload message did not appear and it occured instantaneously.
