Default Editing text in Word

I have been sent a form by the HR department.

I typed in a paragraph of text yesterday and saved the document. Today, when
I opened the document to edit the typed text I saved yesterday (and to spell
check it), Word only allowed me to select the entire paragraph of text I
typed yesterday (regardless of where I place the cursor - at the beginning of
the text or at the end).

So, I am not able to correct misspelt words or use italics for individual
words.

Is there a way to resolve this, please?

Thanks.

Hello Carol

That's very helpful (if long)!

Many thanks.
