Default embedded documents

I am formatting my dissertation in electronic format and have embedded
attachments that are PDF's in my Appendices. Now it takes forever to open
word and often while working in my document, Word is very slow to respond to
my commands. Is there any way around this or did I do this incorrectly?

Sincerely,
Maria Miller

Depends how big those PDF files are electronically. Perhaps you should
hyperlink to them instead of embedding them? How big is your document
electronically?

Hope it helps!
