Default How do I create two indexes (subject and author) in a document?

In a book manuscript I want to create two separate indexes--one that shouws
subject and pages numbers and a second that shows authors cited in the
manuscript. Does nayone know how that's done?

Look up the INDEX and XE fields in Word's Help. You can create separate
indexes by using switches to define which index entries belong to which index.
