Default Alignment of bracketed negative nos. with positive nos. in table

I want to align figures in a table so that where negative figures are shown
in brackets, they align with the positive figures. Normally the bracket
aligns with the right digit of the positive numbers.

If you insert a decimal tab stop in the cells in a given column, your
figures will align as desired. For more, see
