Default Part protected, part unprotected?

Is is possible to one part of a template (or document) protected and another
part unprotected at the same time?

You can protect individual sections, leaving others unprotected. To do this,
you need to insert section breaks.

Yes, as Suzanne said, you need to insert section breaks and then use Tools
Protect Document to protect the form rather than the toolbar button. You
need to let Word know which section should be protected, which unprotected.
What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." For more
about online forms, follow the links at

Hope this helps,
