Default Mail merge can't find "new" records with Find Entry

Using Word 2003 connected via DDE to a query from a secured Access 2000
database in Access 2003. Query connects well but when the records are
updated in access you can't find them using the "Find Entry" button on the
Mail mege tool bar. If you use the arrows you can find it, and it you click
on "mail merge recipients" and it "reconnects" the database, it finds the
record. Why are the recipients automatically updating?

Many thanks.
