Default mail merge format

When doing a mail merge using word 2007 and an excel 2007 database I lose
the general format, it changes to a time of 12:00 AM. I have tried everthing
I can think of. I have resaved and renamed the database. I have rewriten the
letter, using the Mail Merge Wizard. I have tried to reformat the columns of
the datacbase. Can I get some help? I must be missing somthing simple.
