Default label mail merge

Hi, Probably a stupid question but I am trying to create labels from a
database of friends for christmas labels (too lazy to write).
Am using excel 2002 and word 2002 with a Vista compatible update. I
couldn't get it to work last year and I had XP so that wasn't the problem!
I follow directions perfectly and add fields but when I preview nothing!!
What am I doing wrong? Thanks
