Default unable to protect document word 2007

Want to protect word 2007 document. I select Office Buton then Encrypt
Document, Enter Password twice, save file then close file. When I goto to
open the document it opens right up without asking for password.
Any suggests? --

LoveMe,
Don't know about the encryption bit but have you tried the Review tab on the
ribbon, in the protect group, protect document button. In the task pane you
can indicate what the user will be able to do, when you get to step 3 you
will get the opportunity to assign a password to the file.

The Protect Document command on the Review tab falls into the category of
"collaborative protection" and not document security which is what the
Encrypt Document command provides. When you encrypt a document the password
must be known to open the file. When you use Protect Document anyone can
open the file but the password must be known to modify the protection
options.

And, documents protected using Protect Document is easily by-passed but
cracking a password to open a file is next to impossible depending on the
password used to secure the file.

What happens if you exit Word and then try to open the file?

Yes, compatibility mode also, using Vista

Review protection document does not protect the document from opening, as I
need.

The file close normally, when opening the document open it goes straight to
the document.

Yes, going through these steps:
Went to tool €śPrepare, Inspect Document €ś it will process twice in this
order€ť (inspection takes place, the there will be red after the process.
These flags indicate of areas that inspection did not find €śyou have a option
to remove the condition Which I did.€ť Close the tool then go to €śEncrpt
Document€ť. Two screens will come up asking to put your selected password in
then a follow up screen to confirm the password. When closing the file word
as to save response €śyes.€ť Open the file the password screen will appear.
Now testing on the hard drive was good, but when I test the procedures on the
jump drive, it does not work.

I'm new at this thanks....
