Default Word & OCR & tracking changes

I have scanned a document & converted the document via OCR to a Word doc.
When I try to track changes (for example by using the delete key to put a red
line through text),
it does not work - the text just gets really deleted!!!

Hi John,

What version of Word are you using and is the Track Changes indicator show as being on when looking at the Status bar at the bottom
of the Word screen?
