Default Why are Word documents opening with Adobe Acrobat?

When I try to open a Word file from Windows by double clicking, the file
automatically tries to convert to pdf file with Adobe Acrobat. This just
started to happen. No other file types do this. So I suspect a rogue
setting in Word.

See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307859 "How to change file
associations in Windows XP".

Mark - did you get an answer. I have Vista and have just started having the
same problem - extremely annoying. I did not find the support link a
previous answer gave applicable to Vista nor did it address my problem. I
have .doc files that try to load as Acrobat and, of course, can't. Let me
know if you've found an answer. Thanks.

Mark - never mind - I got it! Went into Control Panel, default programs,
associate a file type or protocol with a program, and discovered that .doc
files had become associated with Acrobat. When I changed the association to
Word, everything went back to normal. Good luck.
