Default Normal Template in Word 2003 - It refuses to work.

I've been plagued with a formatting malfunction for weeks!

I've opened the Normal template and have seen that it looks just the way I
want, yet when I open a new document, the template apparently has had no
influence on the new document whatsoever. Every new document that I open
shows the cursor at the very top edge of the paper. I have to manually move
the cursor down to where I want it (an inch top margin) and save it. I tried
changing the Normal Template itself in this way and saving it, but there's
been no change.

I tried opening a new page, selecting "Page Setup" and selecting One Inch
(1") for the Top Margin, but noticed that changing the top margin in Page
Setup had no immediate effect on the page at all--which, it seems to me, it
usually would.

I deleted the Normal Template when Word was closed. I reopened Word to
discover the same old problem persisting. I'll try doing that again with a
complete shutdown and restart.

Somebody knows what to do. I hope that somebody is YOU.

Thanks for your kind attention...

Has nothing to do with Normal.dot really - sounds like you have white space
hidden:
