Copying text from MS-Word to Rich-Text clients
We are working on an issue where the user copies text from Word to a richText
client: If the text contains double or single quotes, some of them get copied as "square box" characters. My questions: 1. Are there any setting in Word (Word 2000, Word 2002, Word 2003) that affects what gets copied to clipboard when a person selects a text and does a copy. 2. The RichText client is hosted inside a browser (I.E.). What is the correct Encoding to be used such that contents get copied correctly - meaning double-quotes as double-quotes and not as €œ . 3.In some machines' browsers [I.E 6.0], the data gets displayed correctly, but when it is stored in the database, the data is getting stored as €œ for double-quotes. Are there any browser settings that make the browser display the characters correctly for such characters. 4. Are there any significant changes in I.E. 7 which affects the above issues. Appreciate your help. Regards, Vasu |

Copying text from MS-Word to Rich-Text clients
Hi Vase
There are no settings in Word that determine how text is copied to the clipboard. I can guess that the problem is because of curly quotes. That suggests that the problem should be systematic, and if you can manipulate the RTF, you could systematically turn curly quotes back to plain ones. Hope this helps. Shauna Kelly.
