Default paragraph formatting in forms

I upgraded from word 2000 to word 2002. I have a form where in multiple
areas I can insert text in unlimited amounts. After I finished with that
section, I go to a new paragraph by hitting enter once or twice. It used to
simply to down 1 or two lines. The form is protected. Now, in 2002, when I
do this and begin to type, the line is automatically moved back up into the
preceding paragraph. How do I get this to stop and have my new typing stay
where it is?
Example: In Word 2000, in a Text Field I typed:
Thank you for asking me to see Mrs. Smith. I saw her today.

Her story was interesting and we talked at length about its implications.
She said she wanted to contact additional support members.
I said that would be reasonable.

In Word 2002, in the text field, it automatically does this:

Thank you for asking me to see Mrs. Smith. I saw her today. Her story was
interesting and we talked at length about its implications. She said she
wanted to contact additional support members. I said that would be
reasonable.

How do I get it to do the first example and not the second?

Hi ?B?cmlic3ByZWFkZXI=?=,

This isn't that works differently in 2002 than in 2000...

Is this a form that you created and maintain? Or is it one from some "central
source"? It sounds to me as if the Enter key has been "re-routed" (see KB
article http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=211219) to not allow inserting a new
paragraph.

This is a protected form template that I made. It worked fine in word 2000.
When my computer crashed and we built a new system, I copied the old hard
drive to the new system. I could not find my old word 2000 disc, so I
installed word 2002 out of office 2002. Now when I tab to the text field and
type, it allows me to hit enter and go to a new line, but as soon as I then
start typing in the text field, it moves the line back up to its previous
location.
If the enter key has been re-routed, I do I correct this and why should it
have happened. I don't use macros.

If you start with a new document in Word 2002, insert some text and some text
form fields, protect, and type...

Do you see the problem in this new document, or does it behave "correctly"?
