Default how do i recover a downloaded and changed msword doc?

I went into my hotmail account and opened a word doc that I emailed myself.
I changed several items in the doc and when I closed the doc ( i clicked on
the x, not on close or save) it asked if i wanted to save the changes. I
clicked yes and now I cannot find the doc anywhere! Please help me I
desperately need to retrieve my research paper!

Downloaded files are created in a temporary folder; you might be able
to find it, assuming that you haven't cleared the Internet cache. The
article at http://www.gmayor.com/outlook_attachments.htm describes
how to find such a file when using Outlook as your mail program, but
the same principle should apply to web mail.
