Default how do i get word to automatically update fields after a print mer

I am using Word 2003.

I have a table in a document in which information is placed via print merge.
At the bottom of the table I have set-up a field to add together some of the
merged information. Unfortunately once merge has been completed the field
reads 0.00 however if I update the field (press F9) it displays the correct
information.

How can I get word to automatically update the field after the print merge,
i.e. without me or any user having to update it?

Your assistance is appreciated!!

You can't! Merge to a new document then CTRL+A and F9.
