Default Blue Shading

What is Microsoft doing about coming up with a fix for the automatic blue
shading of tables in Word 2007? In my business we use multiple tables in our
technical documents. Because of this automatic blue shading, we are
experiencing a great deal of loss of productivity. This problem is so bad we
will have to revert back to XP to increase productivity. OS is VISTA.

Even when tables are pasted from previous versions of Word, when trying to
type or edit the table cells the blue background suddely appears and blocks
the font, no matter what color the font is changed to.

THIS IS A VERY REAL PROBLEM CAUSING INDUSTRY MILLIONS OF DOLLARS DUE TO LOSS
PRODUCTIVITY, LET ALONE COLLEGE AND HIGH STUDENTS TRYING TO GET THESIS
PAPERS AND REPORTS COMPLETED IN A TIMELY MANNER.

NEED A SOLUTION! Its not the Video Card, could be VISTA related.

Have a current contract with the government and ready to recommend not
upgrading to Office 2007, which as a whole has caused a great deal of loss
productivity.

Right now our only solution is to create table using other software, and
pasting them into the document.

The problem seems to be caused by the addition of the Different First Page
and/or the Different Odd and Even buttons to the Quick Access Toolbar. At
least, it can be made to occur if either of those buttons is added (though
there may be additional buttons whose adding to the QAT also causes the
problem).

Do you have either of those buttons on the QAT? If so, if you remove them
the problem may go away.

If it is some other button, try removing them one at at time to see if it is
some other button that also causes the problem. If it is, please do post
back here with the information.

The fact that the problem can be caused by the DFP and DO&E buttons has
recently been reported to Microsoft and if there are other buttons that can
cause the problem it would be good to report that as well, so that a fix
might be provided for all causes.

Hope this helps.

I had neither of those buttons added to the QAT. I removed all buttons with
the exception of save and help, and it seems to have provided a fix. At a
later time I will have to determine which buttons caused the problem. This
is only a TEMP fix which reduces the capability of Word 2007. Is Microsoft
pursuing a fix for this conflict or are we going to have to live with a TEMP
fix for the life of this product.

Personally, I do not like the current "pictured" drop down menu. Takes up
too much space, and cannot tailor it for my needs or if it can, I haven't
figured it out. Thereby, the QAT is very important.

Hi Joe,

It was only last week that it was discovered that the DFP and DO&E buttons
caused the problem and that fact was reported to Microsoft. While there is
no word yet on a fix, I have my fingers crossed. BTW, the problem is not
unique to Vista, as it can also be reproduced with Windows XP.

I would be grateful if you can identify and let us know the button that
caused the issue in your case.
