Whenever I add some images to my document it makes the file huge. i.e. i had
a document file that was 53kb (only 16 pages) and added 2.5MB of images to it and after I saved it the file was 95.5 MB.....why does this keep happening? i keep rescanning the images and docs using dfferent copies in case any are corrupt, but it keeps continiuing. Any help???????. i am using ms word 2003 professional edit. |

Hi,
I suspect you images are in Bitmap format. Bitmap images are very large. You need to save your images as gif or jpg which are much smaller in sisze then reinser them back to your document. To do this select the image, right click and copy, paste in a image editor and do Save As and change the format. A painful exercise if you have many pictures but worth it. No they are in jpg format...and each one is under 600 kb. I only added 11
pics and it went up to 95MB. Any other ideas?? Thanks "Emad Dean Hajian" wrote: Hi, I suspect you images are in Bitmap format. Bitmap images are very large. emmmmm, 11x0.6meg = 66 meg, 95 - 66 = 29 meg. Is your file without images 29
meg? If not, something dodgy is going on in your file. You might have hidden stuff in it. However 600 kb is far too big for an image. Please try saving them as different format and reduce the quality to 50% to reduce the file size for the images, save them in a folder and compare the sizes, then you can decide on which format is best for you. Adding Smaller Pics
Try this: First place the image in your Word document, then, in Word, select
it and [Edit]-[Cut]. Now [Edit]-[Paste Special] and Paste as Picture (Enhanced Metafile). After saving, you should find the Word file size is now a lot smaller, provided the quality of the image is good enough for you. |
