Default Edit Word document with Word 2003 from SharePoint Server 2007

Have just recently installed SharePoint Server 2007. When selecting a
document with 'Edit in MS Office Word', the docuement gets Checked out to me
but then I get a pop-up box 'File in Use' stating the document is locked for
editing by ME! and gives me the choices Open Read Only, Create Local Copy, or
Receive Notification when available.
