Default Word 2007. Paste text info protected template.

Hi!

I have created a document in Word 2007 with a few Rich Text content
controls. I enabled Restrict Formatting and Editing and selected "Allow only
this type of editing in the document" - Filling in forms. Then I saved the
document as a Word Template.

When I then open the .dotx document there is no problem entering text into
the Rich Text content controls. But for some reason I can't copy text from
I.E. notepad and paste it into the Rich Text content controls.

How do I protect my template so our users don't change the body text. But
still will be able to copy text from somewhere else and paste it into the
Rich Text content controls?

Best regards

Default Word 2007. Paste text info protected template.

What you are describing, the inability to Paste when using content controls
in a document protected for filling in forms, is a known issue. :-(

There are a couple workaround you can use:

- Do not use "Protect Document" and instead, in the Properties of each
content controls select the "CC cannot be deleted option". Then select your
document and insert a Rich Text content control. Modify the Properties for
the newly inserted Rich Text content control and select both Locking
options: CC cannot be deleted and CC cannot be edited.

- Use the "No Changes (Read Only)" protection type and set each content
control as an Exception.

Note that in for the first workaround savvy users can modify the document if
they want by altering the content control properties so if you need password
protection then the "No Changes (Read Only)" method is best solution.
