Headings for Index
I have several documents with indexes of entries using different
formats/templates. Some of these have an alphabetic heading (e.g. --A--)before each group of entries, for example: --A-- apple 12 apricot 8 --B-- banana 3 Others do not have any headings. Does anyone know where to find the option that toggles these headings on and off? Thanks Roger |

Some of the index styles include such headings, but you can also add them
manually to the INDEX field using an \h switch. See the Help topic "Field codes: Index field" for more information. -- Suzanne S. Thanks. That does what I was looking for.
Incidentally do you (or anyone else) know if it is possible to edit the format (colour, or font) of the heading or to apply such a heading to the second level of items in the index? For the first, I tried just changing the format of the field code directly (i.e. the "--A--" part), but no luck. Thanks again Roger "Suzanne S. I can answer my own question. I just had to edit the style called "Index
Heading" to change the format. Obvious really. "Roger Nye" wrote: Thanks. That does what I was looking for.
