Default In Office 2007 beta, where is the style area width option?

I just don't get the layout of 2007 beta. Where is normal view and the
ability to see what style I'm in by having my cursor within a paragraph?

Go to File Word Options Advanced. The setting for the width of the style
area is under the Display heading.

When you set the width greater than zero, and you go to Normal view, the
styles of all paragraphs appear all the time, not just when the cursor is
there. Possibly you're confusing this with the Style task pane
(Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S) or the Apply Style dialog (Ctrl+Shift+S).

There are buttons in the status bar, to the left of the zoom control, for
switching views. Normal view is one of those.

If you want the old styles drop down back, check out my StyleChooser
add-in. Look for V1.3 on the blog of my website.
