Tracking changes is on within Word each time I open it. I do not want this
on as a default. I change it every time to say I do not want it turned on,
but each time I go back into Word it is turned on again. How can I turn this
off until I do want to track changes?

You have to open normal.dot (the blank document template) as a file
(via File | Open) and turn off track changes there. See

you need help to open normal.dot. Then follow the instructions
in the article at

to turn off the track changes function. Save and close normal.dot.
