Drop-Down fields in tables not working
I am trying to enter a drop-down form field within a table cell. Upon
protecting the document, the drop down field does not work. Is there anyway to format a table to accept a drop-down field so that the end user is able to select the options within the field that corresponds with thier answers? |

Drop-Down fields in tables not working
Hi,
I have a table created and want to add a simple drop-down box with the choices of yes or no. I set up a 3 column, 5 row table with headers, then in the first column, I click to add the drop down box, double click the box and add the heading, then the two choices. After that is complete, I protect the document and when I try to choose one of the drop down selections, the drop-down box will not function correctly, the arrow to indicate a drop-down box never appears. If I double click the area of the field, the pop up window will show me the choice, but will not allow me to select them because the form is protected. Hi Don,
It sounds rather like you've unchecked the 'drop-down enabled' property. Cheers -- macropod [MVP - Microsoft Word] ------------------------- "Don" wrote in message ... Drop-Down fields in tables not working
I looked at the drop-down enabled property and it is checked. I tried to
uncheck it and then reset it and still nothing works. When I create a "Blank" form both with and without tables, the drop down works when the form is protected. Maybe I should create a new form with the thought that the other is corrupt for some reason. Thank you for your help "macropod" wrote: Hi Don, It sounds rather like you've unchecked the 'drop-down enabled' property. Drop-Down fields in tables not working
I spoke with someone here in the office. Apparently some of these forms are
from the Word Perfect days and have been converted to Word. I will need to re-create the forms to get rid of the years of trying to get them to pass by copying them into Word. I thank you for all of your help in this matter. Don "Don" wrote: I looked at the drop-down enabled property and it is checked. I tried to uncheck it and then reset it and still nothing works. Drop-Down fields in tables not working
Hi Don,
As an aside, having a Table of Contents in the document can also interfere with formfields. If you have one, you may need to convert it to plain text (eg by selecting and and pressing Ctrl-Shift-F9), then insert cross-reference fields where the page numbers now are. I will keep that in mind for future forms as we find the older versions and
weed them out. I thank you for your time and effort to assist with this project.
