Default how do I open Word document in the same place it was saved?

working on a very long doc.
How do I open it in the same place I left last time. Why is my Word opening
doc`s always in the 'home' position?
don`t want to use macros and/or half a dozen different key strokes to get
where I left it.
Excel always goes to the last cell you worked on....

This is how Word works. To change it you need a keyboard shortcut (Shift F5)
or an autoopen macro in normal.dot

Sub AutoOpen()
Application.GoBack
End Sub

both of which you have ruled out.

Design the problem out. Use a chisel and a stone tablet.
