Default Mail Merge using IF THEN....

I am trying to format a text box to come up in my mail merge letters only
when certain conditions are met. I want the box to come up only if the date
is greater than or equal to TODAY. However the date that comes form the data
source comes out only in M/YYYY format. I tried:

{{IF{MERGEFIELD INSTITUTION END MY}= "{TIME\@ "m/yyyy"}""***If you have
received this letter prior to this individuals stated graduation date,
please hold response until degree can be officially verified. We are unable
to accept post-dated letters. Thank you.***"" ""}

This is not working. Will I need to covert the dates to text & the evaluate
them to get the greater to equal? I am lost!

Thanks.

Default

Your syntax is all over the place. Most important you cannot compare the
dates in the format you have. You need a full date to get any closer than
the 1st of the month in from your field. It is also unusual to have spaces
in field names. It should work with underscores in place of the spaces in
the fieldname

The following should work. Note the spaces and switches - a fuller
explanation can be found at http://www.gmayor.com/formatting_word_fields.htm

{ IF{ MERGEFIELD INSTITUTION_END_MY \@ "yyyyMMdd" } = { DATE \@
"yyyyMMdd" } "***If you have received this letter prior to this individual's
stated graduation date, please hold response until degree can be officially
verified. We are unable to accept post-dated letters. Thank you.***" }
