Default Table of figures messed up

My document has figures 1-9, then figure 7, then figure 10.
Figure 7 is not in the table of figures.
How do I correct this? I want all my figures in sequence and all in the
table of figures.

Thanks - David

Default Table of figures messed up

here's some more information that may help diagnose my problem (I hope)
I am using Word 2003 SP2.
All my figure captions are text paragraphs with style 'caption centered'.
I tried CTRL-A and F9 - it makes no difference.

I think this all may have emanated from way way back when I copied a caption
from one figure to another. My document has never been right since.

Which, if any, of the captions are in a textbox or some other graphical
construction (Canvas, Frame, anything)?

If you press Alt+F9 to display the field codes is the same code (probably an
SEQ field with a sequence label of "Figure") in all the captions?

If you delete the caption showing "Figure 7" and update the table, does it
still run through correctly from 1 through 10? And if you then insert a new
caption?
